On April 5,RectorMohammad Jehangir Bashar and Professor Khasan Karimov of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology visited NanjingTech to attend a bilateral meeting and receive Nanjing Tech visiting professorship.

The delegation met with PresidentHuangWei, Vice PresidentJiangJuncheng, Vice PresidentGongJianming and representatives from relevant departments to discuss future collaboration between the two universities. President Wei Huang said that China and Pakistan have established all-weather strategic partnership and the cooperation between the twouniversitiesnot only benefitsmutual developmentbut also strengthen friendship between two nations. Having served the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for many years, Rector Bashar added that the cooperation between China and Pakistan has proved fruitful in national defense, economy and infrastructure under the framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and One Belt and One Road Initiative. He hopes the success can be duplicated in higher education.

NanjingTech and GIK Institute already have a well-established cooperation in the area of advanced materials based on a joint research project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF).
