The MOU Signing Ceremony of Joint Research Center of Organic Semiconductor between Nanjing Tech University and University of St Andrews was held in C501 of Science & Innovation Building, Dingjiaqiao Campus on November 17th. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Louise Richardson, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of University of St Andrews and her delegation and Academician and President Prof. Huang Wei, Vice President Prof. Jiang Juncheng, Assistant President Prof. He Xuejun and other administrators of related departments.

President Huang Wei extended his welcome to Principal and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Louise Richardson in his speech and made a brief introduction to the historical development and research strength of NanjingTech. He reviewed his February visit to St Andrews when two universities had fruitful discussions and reached much consensus in talent cultivation, research collaboration and joint research center. President Huang said that the University of St Andrews is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities not only in the United Kingdom but also in the world. The Chinese government always encourages mainstream Chinese universities to establish strategic partnership and carry out tangible cooperation with famous overseas universities. With the rise of China, China-UK relationship has become one of the most important relationships in the international diplomacy. The cooperation in higher education between China and UK is of great importance to the Sino-British relationship. The in-depth and tangible cooperation between NanjingTech and St Andrews will break new ground for both universities and contribute to the development of higher education in both China and the United Kingdom.

President Huang also pointed out that globalization is of great importance to NanjingTech and is the inevitable course for NanjingTech to become a world famous institution of higher education. The cooperation between NanjingTech and St Andrews will not only promote the education and research of both universities but also contribute to the communication and friendship of two countries. President Huang put forward the proposals of establishing Confucius Institute and Joint Educational Institution between two universities. He expressed his good wishes and earnest expectation for cooperation between NanjingTech and St Andrews by quoting two English proverbs "Where there is a will, there is a way" and "Well begun, half done".

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Louise Richardson introduced the history and unique features of University of St Andrews in her speech. She spoke highly of the development of NanjingTech and believed that NanjingTech would become a would famous university with persistent efforts. She said that two universities should seek common ground for cooperation and share experience and knowledge of science and research. The establishment of the Joint Research Center of Organic Semiconductor would opens up new opportunities to involve researchers from both universities in their pursuit of excellence. The University of St Andrews would strengthen the collaboration with NanjingTech in talent cultivation and scientific research and would be open to discussions about the establishment of Confucius Institute and NanjingTech- St Andrews Joint Educational Institution.

Finally, Academician and President Huang Wei and Principal and Vice-Chancellor Louise Richardson signed the MOU of Joint Research Center of Organic Semiconductor between NanjingTech and St Andrews in the witness of other attendees of the meeting.
