The MOU Signing Ceremony for Joint Research Center of Plastic Electronics between Nanjing Tech University and Imperial College London was held in Conference Room 104 of Administration Building on Jiangpu Campus on Oct 16th. The ceremony was attended and witnessed by Mr. Hu Jinbo, Deputy Minister of Jiangsu Provincial CPC Organization Committee, Mr. Guo Liping, Director of Human Resource Department of Jiangsu Provincial CPC Organization Committee, Mr. Zhang Zhaochen,Director of Science, Technology and Industry Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Ms. Guo Hong, Deputy Director of International Relations Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Professor Donal Bradley, Fellow of the Royal Society, Vice-Provost (Research) of Imperial College London, Academician and President Huang Wei, Vice President Prof. Jiang Juncheng, Vice President Prof. Cui Yihu, Vice President Prof. Gong Jianming, Assistant President Prof. Wu Shenghong, Assistant President Prof. He Xuejun and other administrators of related departments attended the ceremony.
Academician and President Huang expressed warm welcome and sincere gratitude to all the leaders and guests for attending the ceremony. He said that NanjingTech could not have made the great progress without the guidance and support of the Provincial Government and he hoped that the provincial leaders would continuously pay attention to the development of NanjingTech in the future. In his speech, president spoke highly of the achievements Prof. Bradley had made, and introduced the collaboration between two universities on building joint research center.Prof. Bradley is a world-renowned scientist, known as the founder of plastic electronics with rich university management experience. Over the past two-year collaboration, both sides have achieved fruitful results in areas of basic research, technology development and product applications, especially in the formation of new synergy mechanism in talent exchange and cultivation. The establishment of the joint research center would promote interaction between experts and technical personnel. In the future, NanjingTech will endeavor to construct overseas academic scholar studio, support multinational innovation team and cultivate technology innovation talents.
Prof. Bradley pointed out that the research of plastic electronics had very extensive application prospects. He highly praised the scientific research strength Academician Huang and his research team showed in their pursuit of excellence. He believed that Nanjing Tech would become a world-class institution through continuous effort. He also mentioned that the Center for Plastic Electronics of Imperial College was the world's top-level scientific research platform and the collaboration between two universities will further enhance the research strength of CPE.
In the warm applause, Academician and President Huang Wei and Prof. Bradley signed the MOU for Joint Research Center of Plastic Electronics between Nanjing Tech University and Imperial College London.
Finally, Deputy Minister Hu Jinbo expressed sincere congratulations on the collaboration between NanjingTech and ICL. He said that the collaboration between the two universities was the coalition of two research powers which would yield fruitful results. China has entered into a new development phase when innovation driven-strategy is replacing resource-driven strategy. The key driver for innovation is talent cultivation. The collaboration between NanjingTech and ICL will be a successful demonstration in terms of science and technology development as well as international cooperation between universities. NanjingTech is a high-level university in Jiangsu, which was selected one of the first 14 " 2011 plan" universities. Mr Hu hoped that the two universities could establish a long-term cooperation relationship and he expressed best wishes for the success of future collaboration.
