The 12th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Xi’an December 11thto 13thwith nearly 2500 delegates coming from over 140 countries and regions all over the world. Ms. Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of the State Council and President of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters attended the Conference and delivered a keynote speech.
The theme of the Conference was Working Together to Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind through Cooperation and Innovation and a total of 15 forums were carried out among university presidents and Confucius Institute directors at home and abroad. In addition, various exhibitions were held on the sidelines of the conference, including the Confucius Institute Chinese Language Teaching Resource Exhibition, the Chinese Teaching Materials Exhibition, and the Theme Exhibition on Chinese Food Culture.
Vice President Gong Jianming attended the Conference on behalf of Nanjing Tech University and held talks with delegates from the University of Johannesburg and the University of Zaragoza on the development of Confucius Institutes. They agreed to promote the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes and globalization of both universities in line with the national Belt and Road Initiative.
