主讲人介绍：

现任南非大学科学工程与技术学院院长。1998年毕业于南非金山大学化学系，获博士学位。曾任南非约翰内斯堡大学教授、化学系主任、理学院院长等。英国皇家化学会会士（2013），非洲科学研究院院士（2012），非洲膜学会发起人之一。长期从事纳米技术和水可持续性方面的研究，在分离膜应用、水质净化等方面取得了一系列成果。发表学术论文200余篇、出版著作7部（章），指导硕士与博士研究生60多名。

主要内容：

Some rural communities have challenges in accessing good quality and safe drinking water whereas with other sectors of such communities water scarcity remains a cause for concern. Without the availability of electricity, but the abundance of heat from the sun, herein we propose a solar driven membrane treatment process that integrates with fundamental pre-treatment strategies to maximize on water production of acceptable standards which originates from wells. This work is being carried out in a typical rural community in South Africa and already shows good promise for success.
