于新豹,土木工程博士,美国德克萨斯州大学阿灵顿分校副教授,博士生导师,担任美国土木工程协会 (ASCE) 专家委员、 美国交通协会 (TRB) 专家委员等多个专业协会委员;担任美国、波兰、加拿大等国家科学基金的项目评审专家,担任Journal of Geotechnical ang Geoenvironmental Engineering 等10余个期刊的评审专家。主要研究方向为岩土传感器(TDR),地热能,岩土概率论设计和非饱和土。主持参与美国NSF国家科学基金、加州交通厅、德克萨斯州交通厅、路易斯安纳州交通厅等科研课题10余项, 课题经费300多万美元。发表SCI检索论文30余篇,出版专著3部。

主要内容:

Geothermal energy is a reliable, baseload energy source which can provide power 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, independent of weather conditions and has the potential to satisfy more than four-fifths of US energy needs. Bridge deicing is critical to ensure roadway safety, mobility, and productivity. In this presentation, the background knowledge of geothermal energy applications is first reviewed. Then the operation principle of geothermal heated bridge is discussed. Cases of geothermal bridge deicing are reviewed. The recent works of thermo-TDR for soil thermal and moisture measurement are also introduced. Geothermal energy is promising to provide a green and sustainable solution to critical infrastructure needs.
